How to sew the 16 Momme Chinese crepe uni?
Always use Extra-fine needles (No. 55) ideal for sewing silk, satin, lingerie, velvet.
Iron on a delicate fabric
Care:
Dry cleaning
Never spray perfume or deodorant on silk.
Never wash with a bleaching agent. Bleach is to be avoided.
Do not expose silk directly to sunlight (curtains require a blackout lining).
Never spray water while ironing, except for regular steam on wild silk which helps soften the fabric.
Always iron silk inside out except for a few exceptions
Never wring silk.
In case you absolutely want to wash silk in the machine and not dry clean, know that silk does not like water.
If you put it in the machine, even on a gentle cycle, you risk finding your garment without shine, and if it is wild silk or silk taffeta, you may also find it completely wrinkled (and with no way to smooth it out even by ironing).
